At Amgen, giving back to the communities where we live and work is part of our DNA.
That’s why our Annual Week of Service – an opportunity for Amgen Australia staff to collectively make a meaningful difference by contributing to causes that need a helping hand – is a highlight on the staff calendar.
For many years, Amgen Australia has offered a two-day paid charity leave program to all permanent staff so that they can give their time to organisations and initiatives close to their heart. Since 2019 however, in addition to allowing staff to volunteer individually, the company’s Community Impact Team has created an occasion where the whole company could come together in the service of others.
Different volunteering opportunities are organised all around Australia and staff can participate in an activity of their choice – either face-to-face or remotely. Whether it’s working with people with disabilities, regenerating bushland or coastal areas, preparing meals for those in need, sewing pouches for injured wildlife, packing hampers, or donating blood, the emphasis is on everyone donning an Amgen blue shirt and rolling up their sleeves to do their part.
Through this initiative, hundreds of hours of help and support are provided to people and organisations in need and, as an added bonus, working to create this positive change leaves our employees truly inspired and uplifted.
Amgen Australia’s support for the community and culture of caring are a great source of pride for our business and are some of the key reasons our employees regard Amgen as a great place to work.
