As part of our commitment to environmentally responsible operations, Amgen Australia has voluntarily signed the Australian Packaging Covenant (APC), a framework that sets out how governments and businesses across Australia share responsibility for managing the environmental impacts of packaging.
In administering the Covenant, the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) encourages signatories to design and utilise more sustainable packaging throughout their supply chains and recognises those leading the way through their annual awards program.
The awards celebrate important steps on the journey toward a circular economy for packaging and, in recent years, Amgen Australia has been honoured to receive numerous APCO accolades.
Listed as finalist in the Pharmaceuticals category in 2017, continuous improvement saw Amgen Australia take out the top industry prize in 2018 and 2019. In 2019 Amgen also received an overarching award for Outstanding Achievement in Sustainable Packaging Solutions, beating 33 nominees across industry sectors ranging from food and beverage to telecommunications to agriculture.
In 2020, Amgen Australia was once again recognised as an industry finalist and, in 2021, was awarded the Healthcare and Scientific category prize.
Amgen is committed to environmentally sound practices and is working to improve sustainability along the entire life cycle of our products, including in research, development, manufacturing, packaging, and disposal.
The company’s global effort, together with our local work to reduce supply chain packaging and move to reusable solutions that don’t end up in landfill, is something we’re extremely proud of.
